Comedian Colin Jost recently opened up about what might be one of the most absurd purchases of his life — a $280,000 Staten Island Ferry that he bought with fellow comedian Pete Davidson. During a lighthearted interview, Jost admitted that the purchase, which he jokingly refers to as "absolutely the dumbest," left his wife, actress Scarlett Johansson, both shocked and amused.
Jost, a native New Yorker, and Davidson pooled their resources to purchase the retired ferry with plans to turn it into a floating entertainment venue. However, when Johansson found out, Jost revealed, she couldn't help but question the practicality of the decision. "She was like, ‘You and Pete did what?’ She thought it was ridiculous but, at the same time, very on-brand," Jost shared, laughing.
Johansson’s reaction wasn’t just confusion, though. According to Jost, she eventually saw the humor in it. "She knows me too well and, at this point, she just kind of shakes her head and laughs at the weird stuff I get into," he added.
Despite the impracticality of the purchase, Jost remains optimistic about its future, though he concedes, "It might be the craziest investment I’ve ever made, but I guess we’ll see where it goes." As for Johansson, it seems she's happy to watch the ferry adventure unfold from the sidelines.
